Simple Addresses
A Freeware Address Book
Simple Addresses is a simple FileMaker Pro database that will work with
either the Macintosh or the Windows edition of Claris' FileMaker Pro.
Here's what we'd like you to do; If you actually use this database we'd
like you to send us a copy of it after you've added your own
personalized functions to it so that we can learn from your examples as
we hope you may have learned from ours.
If you would like to make copies of this for your friends and
associates, please include all the files in this archive. It is brought
to you as a Freeware gift from the GreenBird Group, publishers of
ModemNews Magazine. We can be reached at;

Instructions;
Simple Addresses is really just what it says; a simple address book in
which you can simply and quickly search through lists of your
addresses and phone numbers. Something we have done that other address
book have not done is to leave a field available for net mail
addresses, and a check box that among the standard listings of Friend,
Associates, Business, etc., has a selection for BBS Associates. Not a
major advance to shake the world, but a nice touch we thought.
Quick View Screen
When you first open Simple Addresses you are presented with the Quick
View listing. At the very top of this page are underlined subject
titles. Each of these can be clicked on and the list below will be
sorted based on the criteria selected.
Once your view has been sorted ad you have found the address you are
looking for, select the entry by clicking on it and you will be
presented with the main Data Entry screen. The Data Entry screen is
where you would add information about the person, business or
whathaveyou you had just selected.
Button Bar
FIND
The FIND button does just that. It gives you a place where you can
enter a set of information, or just a few letters of a name, or a phone
number. Pressing the ENTER key will cause the database to search for
criteria that matches your search.
SELECT
Selects the data record that is currently marked by a small black
cursor in the extreme right-hand of the window.
PREVIOUS
Goes to the previous record.
DATA ENTRY
Brings you to the main Data Entry screen where all information for a
particular entry is made.
NEXT
Goes to the next record.
NEW
When you press on the NEW button in the lower right hand corner of the
Quick View screen, you will be brought to the Data Entry screen and
given a fresh, blank card in which to create a new entry for your
Simple Addresses database.
Data Entry Screen
The Data Entry Screen is the place where you do all your data entry,
and thus its name. The function buttons on the bottom of the screen
serve similar functions to the same buttons on the Quick View screen
with two exceptions; a DELETE button, and a LETTER button. Play with
them to see what they do.
EXTRA BUTTONS
We left you extra buttons so that you can create your own functions
within Simple Addresses. We were going to create this Wham Bam!
database for you but couldn't figure out what it was you would have
wanted, so we've left the rest up to you.
Go out there and enjoy!
